Planes is really a disappointment compared to Cars. Whereas in Cars, the racing techniques and equipment are quite realistic, Planes did not follow suit. Sure that a dust crop plane would make a great underdog, but in real life, the situation and scenario is just unreal. And flying at high altitudes will definitely give an excellent speed boost, most plane in this kind of race would be flying at that altitude from the start. Cars succeeded because the protagonist is not an underdog; he is actually a NASCAR top dog that got thrown into an out-of-hand situation.
