April Fools Joke -- one I wished that I pulled off
I wish that I was clever enough to pull off this April Fool's Prank. I heard about it once, but can't remember who or when it happened. It involves a bit of pre-planning. For several months leading up to April 1st, you must convince a friend or family member that you are taking art classes and that you are really getting into it. Really sell the idea that you think you are getting better, and your art has personal significance and deep sentimental value. Let your mark know that you are working on something especially for him, and it would mean a lot to you if he would keep display your work. Sometime before April 1st, have a nicely framed, yet utterly horrendous, piece of artwork that you present as your “masterpiece.” Bonus points if it is nothing more than mindless scribble. Be sure to drop in for a visit on April Fool's day – either way you win the joke. If it's displayed, you can have a good laugh at your friend's expense. If he never hung it on the wall, you can feign anger and hurt feelings to make him feel guilty, then you can laugh at his expense.
