President Obama on Jay Leno's Tonight Show
For the first time, an acting president appeared on the famous late night television show called the Tonight Show. During the show, President Obama and the host Jay Leno engaged in exchanges concerning the economy. While many people feel that the president should not appear on shows such as this one, I feel that it is in line with Obama's contemporary approach to the presidency. Watching the show allowed viewers a glimpse into the humor and depth of the President Obama. While I understand that the Tonight Show is a comedy show, I disapprove of the fact that they were using our current economical situation for humor. There is nothing funny about layoffs and foreclosures. After watching President Obama talk about the economy and the AIG bonus situation, I found myself disagreeing with the current stimulus plan. While I understand that many of the companies the taxpayers are bailing out are essential for our economy, I disagree two thing. The first thing is the amount we are giving the companies and secondly, the lack of transparency to where the money is going. Also, if we are going to cure the economy, it seems like a good idea to start at the lowest level, the consumers.
